Becky Perez

Becky Perez

Becky Perez is on a quest to inspire students to discover their strengths and empower themselves to make a difference in the world. As a first generation college student and Paramount High School alumna, she attended Harvard College and Harvard Graduate School of Education. She has taught middle school language arts and social studies, coached teachers, and designed curriculum for career and technical education and when she’s not finding ways to inspire learners, she’s hiking, volunteering, or learning to play the guitar.

Anastasia Ferrarer-Bias
Assistant Principal

Anastasia Ferrarer-Bias has served as an educator for almost 30 years and taught at Theodore Roosevelt Elementary for 24 of those years.  In her time there she was a first, second, and fifth grade teacher in addition to coaching K-5 teachers in math instruction for almost eight years.  Prior to teaching in Paramount, she spent 5 years serving 7th - 12th grade students at an alternative school in the greater Los Angeles area.  She is excited to find her way back to serving students in a high school setting as the Assistant Principal here at Odyssey STEM Academy.  She chose to become an educator because it is her desire to support students as they pursue their life goals and believes education plays a significant role in students being able to achieve those goals.

She and her husband are parents to three amazing children that bring great joy to their lives and teach them what it means to love unconditionally!

Ashley Chismark

Social Worker

Hello my name is Ashley Chismark and I’m excited to join the Odyssey team as the new school social worker.  This is my 14th year as a school social worker and most of my time has been serving students in the south suburbs of Chicago.  I’ve worked at alternative/continuation high schools, public high schools, charter high schools and I’m lucky enough to have landed at Odyssey.  I’m excited to be apart of the scholar-centered approach of Odyssey STEM Academy and excited to bring in more mental health supports to our scholars.  In my free-time I enjoy running, hiking, exploring new cities in my travels, and visiting family.

Daniel Leyva

Daniel was born and raised in Los Angeles and would not want to live anywhere else… at this time. He obtained a BA in History from UCLA.  After a short sabbatical, he returned to graduate school at Loyola Marymount University to complete a MA in School Counseling with a Pupil Personnel Service credential to focus his efforts in guiding and supporting K-12 students and their families.

Daniel has lived in the Lakewood/Long Beach area for over 10 years and it is here where he has decided to put down new roots.  When not working, Daniel would like to do nothing else but travel and eat the variety of foods the world has to offer.  It is this same hunger for travel that Daniel, and his partner, hope to instill in their two little girls.  Other hobbies include hiking, woodwork, and napping.
